Comparing the Cost: Fillers for 7 to 10 Years vs. a Facelift

Woman happy with her facelift

One commonly asked question I hear from my Naples and Ft. Myers patients is which is a more cost-effective option: a facelift or injectable fillers? Patients are often drawn to the minimal invasiveness and lower initial price of fillers, but there are several good reasons surgical facelift procedures are still the gold standard for helping your face reflect the youthfulness you feel inside.

In this post, I’ll review several factors to help you decide the best option for your goals.

Procedure & Recovery

Injectables

Injectables offer a minimally invasive solution with limited, if any, downtime. You should feel very little discomfort during this simple and safe treatment because fillers come pre-mixed with a numbing agent.

Facelift

A facelift is a more intensive surgical approach that requires anesthesia and a longer recovery period. Patients are typically off work for at least a week and experience some numbness and discomfort for about 2 days.

Cost

Injectables

Though fillers appear to be a more cost-effective option, you may need several syringes of product per treatment, at a cost of hundreds of dollars per syringe. Depending on the product used, you can expect your results to last from 9 months to 2 years. At that point, you’ll need to opt for additional treatments to maintain your look. Booking regular injectable treatments over 7 to 10 years can often end up costing more than one surgical procedure that produces results that last indefinitely.

Facelift

The upfront cost of a facelift is higher than a single filler treatment. However, you can expect facelift results to last 7 to 10 years, so the cost becomes much more reasonable when compared to filler treatments over the same time span. And even though your face will continue to age after surgery, you will always look younger than your chronological age after undergoing a facelift. So in that sense, the results last indefinitely.

Candidates

These treatments work best for targeting small, specific areas as a way to reharmonize facial features. Concerns such as minor wrinkles, nose bumps, and forehead lines can all benefit from injectable fillers. These eventually dissolve, so the results are temporary and usually last a year or less, depending on the product you choose.

Facelift

Great candidates for facelifts are patients who want to address deeper wrinkles, loss of volume, and sagging skin for a more dramatic rejuvenation. These results create a greater overall transformation and tend to be a much longer-term solution.

While fillers can be a quick, easy, and affordable option for men and women looking to address subtler signs of aging, the facelift ultimately remains the gold standard for total lower face rejuvenation. A bigger investment upfront can deliver a long-lasting transformation that will showcase a natural, rested, youthful appearance to help you put your best face forward.
