Learn MoreInformation About Your Surgery
For your optimum comfort and safety, most operative procedures are performed in our fully accredited outpatient surgical suite. When Dr. Hasen first planned on renovating his new office, he completely redesigned the operating room suite to best meet the needs of his patients and the stringent safety requirements of the accrediting organization, American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). The accrediting body is the gold standard in accreditation for office based outpatient surgery centers. Your well-being and safety are always our primary focus in conjunction with AAASF.
The anesthesia is given by our experienced Board-Certified Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in our state-of-the-art outpatient operating center. Generally, patients return home the same day their procedure takes place. Should you require an overnight stay, nearby facilities are available with private duty nursing care. Longer stays are available at nearby facilities with nursing care.
For additional safety, privacy and convenience, we offer a 23-hour stay in our in-office overnight post-surgical facility. A registered nurse will monitor you throughout the night to take the burden and stress off of your loved ones. The post-surgical overnight facility is equipped with a large screen high definition television with Blu-ray/DVD player. Additionally, there is a full kitchen for all of your post-operative needs.
Dr. Hasen is readily available after your surgery. You will return to the office for several post-operative visits so we can evaluate your progress and answer any questions you have along the way. This helps assure that you have a smooth and uneventful recovery.
Dr. Hasen has privileges at the following hospitals and outpatient facilities:

Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Surgery
Will I have to stay overnight at a hospital?
Most often, the answer is no. Most of our surgeries are done on an outpatient basis in our fully accredited cosmetic surgery suite. This center is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery facility, offering the latest in technology for patients and staff.
Can I stay overnight after surgery at your facility?
Yes. We offer a 23-hour overnight post-surgical stay in our office. This gives you maximum safety, comfort, and privacy after your surgery. A highly trained registered nurse monitors you during the night to make sure your recovery is going as planned. Dr. Hasen can then check you first thing in the morning before you leave for home to complete the rest of your recovery. This takes the burden and stress off of loved ones who are not trained to take care of post-surgical patients.
Will I be in pain?
During your surgery, anesthesia ensures you are comfortable and without pain. For most procedures, you will be asleep for the entire time. After surgery, you will be prescribed medication for any discomfort. These symptoms usually subside within a matter of days.
Will everyone recognize I had surgery?
Usually not. Good plastic surgery looks natural. People will often ask if you have been on vacation, lost weight, or been exercising. Typically, they will not know unless you share it with them.
Will there be scars?
You will have scars, but they are not usually noticeable. We make every effort to keep scars to a minimum and hide them in natural lines and creases in your skin. Over the course of time, your scars will fade and become barely noticeable.
When can I resume regular exercise?
The time a patient resumes regular exercise varies based on the operation performed. All patients are encouraged to start a slow walking routine on the second post-operative day. Regular aerobic and more vigorous activities are not allowed during the first two to three weeks in order to decrease the risks of bleeding, swelling, and bruising. Weight lifting and contact sports are allowed at one month in most cases.
Will insurance cover it?
Since cosmetic surgery is elective, most insurance plans do not cover it. There are exceptions, and if your procedure is medically necessary, our office will assist you in contacting your insurance company.
Can stretch marks be removed?
Yes, if they are located in the lower abdominal area. The procedure used is an abdominoplasty, which removes stretch marks, excess skin and fat.
I am slightly overweight. Would I be a good candidate for liposuction?
Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. It can help to sculpt areas on the body. An ideal candidate is someone who is within 15 – 20 pounds of his/her ideal weight. There are always exceptions, which can be determined by Dr. Hasen during a consultation.
How long does breast augmentation surgery take?
The surgery normally takes between one and two hours, and is performed as an outpatient procedure.
When can I return to work after breast augmentation surgery?
You usually can get around independently by the second day after your breast augmentation. If you are not required to lift more than ten pounds, you may return to work at four to seven days.
My eyes look tired all the time. Is there a procedure to correct this?
Yes. Blepharoplasty removes the loose skin on the upper eyelid, and fatty deposits below the eyes to give a more youthful, rested appearance.
What is the recovery time for a facelift?
The major swelling and bruising are usually gone around ten to fourteen days after your face lift. Our aesthetician can help with make-up and skin care to help minimize the appearance of bruising during the healing period.
What is the difference between cosmetic and plastic surgeons?
Dr. Hasen can call himself both a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon because he is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Those who are not board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery cannot call themselves plastic surgeons, but can call themselves cosmetic surgeons. To learn more about this topic, read our article about their differences.
