One of the post-holiday rituals many of us follow is making New Year’s resolutions. More often than not, they include a commitment to get back in shape after enjoying so many seasonal goodies. This year, however, I’m suggesting a proactive approach by planning a CoolSculpting treatment at my Naples, Florida, practice. Getting ahead of the “curves,” so to speak.
CoolSculpting is a popular, non-invasive body contouring procedure that selectively targets bulges of fat using a technology called Cryolipolysis®. Essentially, it kills fat cells by freezing them without damaging the surrounding tissue. It’s a gradual process, though, as the fat takes a while to die off and be eliminated through the body’s normal metabolic process. It’s ideal for the abdominal area, the flanks (“love handles”), and the inner and outer thighs.
CoolSculpting doesn’t achieve quite as extensive results as liposuction, but it is an excellent alternative for busy patients who want to avoid the downtime and cost associated with surgical removal of fat. There is little discomfort during a CoolSculpting treatment, and patients often read, work on laptops, or even nap throughout the procedure. It is especially effective for men and women who already lead healthy lifestyles and are relatively fit, but who have localized areas of fat that resist exercise and good eating habits.
By planning your treatment now, you’ll see the excellent results of CoolSculpting just in time to wear your favorite dress or suit to holiday parties. And even if you do add a few extra pounds during the holidays, keep in mind that many people benefit from repeat treatments, so scheduling CoolSculpting appointments for January and February can be a great idea, as well.
