Silicone Breast Implants Before & After Case 75

Before & After
Case Details
An active young woman, this patient desired larger breasts but wanted to avoid submuscular implant placement for her breast enhancement in Naples, Florida. Since the implants would be placed just below the breast tissue, I recommended silicone gel-filled implants, which both look and feel more like natural breast tissue. I placed these implants below the breast tissue by lifting the thick coating of the pectoral muscle up to allow for more coverage of the breast implant (subfascial instead of subglandular), softening the edges and giving a more natural appearance. With this placement, the implant is not affected by contraction of the pectoral muscle, so it does not move like submuscular implants typically do. I used 350 cc moderate plus projection, smooth round silicone breast implants to obtain the results the patient was seeking.
The results of her breast augmentation are shown above after 6 months. Look at how dramatically the patient’s cleavage increased despite the widely spaced appearance of her breasts before surgery. The periareolar scars are still noticeable on the lower half of the areola, but these will continue to improve for about a year after breast enhacement. Many patients who choose silicone prefer the periareolar incision over inframammary incisions, where silicone implants require a longer incision than saline breast implants because the silicone gel is already prefilled in the implants.
There are benefits and drawbacks associated with both saline and silicone breast implants for breast enhancement—Naples, Florida cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Hasen is happy to discuss these with you during your consultation.
