Silicone Breast Implants Before & After Case 74

This South-West Florida native sought cosmetic breast enhancement (breast augmentation) from Naples Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Kent V. Hasen, M.D. after being referred by her good friend who was a satisfied past patient of Dr. Hasen.  Word of mouth referrals like these help keep the cosmetic surgery practice of Dr. Hasen busy.  The patient had involutional changes after her pregnancy and was very concerned with the appearance of her breasts.  Dr. Hasen discussed with her the difficulty in enhancing her breast since there was very little tissue in the constricted lower pole of her breasts.  In fact the patients breast tissue herniates through her enlarged nipple areolar complex.  To help elevate the low nipples, Dr. Hasen performed a breast lift via the circumareolar (donut mastopexy) approach.  This also helped decrease the size and herniation of the areolae.  The patient had the moderate plus profile smooth, round silicone-gel breast implants in Naples. The implants were placed in the subfascial pocket just above the pectoralis muscle.  In this position, there is less pain post operatively and no motion of the implant with contraction of the muscle.  Furthermore, the breast implant is in better contact with the overlying breast in the subfascial pocket and helps recruit the nearby skin to help make her post-operative breast appear more round with correction of her constricted breast deformity.  The pre and post-operative result at 6 weeks reveal well healed circumareolar scars that will continue to improve over the first post-operative year.
