How RF Skin Tightening Works

Radiofrequency energy penetrates the skin harmlessly and then heats its deeper layers, causing the collagen fibers to contract and tighten—a process called remodeling. This RF energy also stimulates collagen production for increased firming and tightening over time. Define and Forma devices have built-in temperature controls to provide optimal results safely and effectively. Renuvion® is a minimally invasive alternative that tightens the skin by releasing RF energy and helium through a probe inserted under the skin.

Define Cheek & Define Chin

Define addresses the following signs of aging:

Treatment experience: Once you are sitting comfortably in the treatment chair, your provider will cleanse and dry your skin, then place a specialized headset on you and ensure the applicators are pressing on your targeted areas. During the 20- to 45-minute treatment, you will feel warmth but no pain and can press the call button if you have any concerns.

Downtime: No downtime is needed for Define treatments. Treated areas may feel warm and look mildly red for a few hours after treatment.

Downtime: Treated areas may feel warm and look red for a few hours after treatment, but no downtime is needed.

Results: The skin is firmer and more radiant right away and continues to improve as new collagen develops over the following weeks.

Treatment protocol: Most patients need a series of 6 to 8 treatments, each spaced a week apart for optimal results.
