The HALO laser, made by Sciton®, is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. “Fractional” means it releases pinpoints of laser energy instead of a solid beam like other lasers. It’s called a “hybrid” laser because it combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to remove tiny columns of the skin’s surface and penetrate deeper layers without harming the surface. You can choose one type or a combination of both wavelengths for the most noticeable results.

We perform HALO treatments right here in our office. Once your provider has prepared your skin with a topical numbing cream and placed protective shields over your eyes, they will guide the laser handpiece over your skin, delivering short bursts of laser energy precisely where you need it. You may feel warmth or a prickly sensation, but the device’s cooling technology minimizes any discomfort. After your treatment, we will apply moisturizing sunscreen, and you’ll be free to return to your day.

How Long Is Recovery From a HALO Laser Treatment?
Recovery typically takes 3 to 7 days. Here’s what to expect:
- After treatment: The skin will feel tight and warm and look red, similar to a sunburn, for about an hour (longer with more intense treatments).
- 24 hours: You can resume your daily routine.
- 2 to 3 days: Bronzing will make the skin look darker and feel like sandpaper, then slough off.
- 1 week: Results become noticeable.
- 7+ days: Avoid direct sun exposure.
- 2 to 3 weeks: Visible reduction in pigment concerns.
- 3+ months: Wrinkles fade. Pores shrink. Skin looks more radiant.

How Many HALO Sessions Are Needed?
Most patients attain their goals with 1 to 2 treatments. To minimize downtime, you can choose a series of gentle treatments. We often recommend maintenance treatment once or twice a year.
