Many Women Consider Post-Baby Plastic Surgery in UK

Plastic Surgery Practice reports that two out of five women would consider a “mommy makeover” related procedure following childbirth. The data, which was collected by a UK-based television show called My Face My Body, showed that 39% of women would consider plastic surgery after childbirth, while another 57% of women would even undergo surgery while still in the hospital following labor.

According to the survey, the top body concerns for moms are as follows:
•    Weight gain-34%
•    Stretch marks-24%
•    Loose skin-21%
•    Cellulite-14%
•    Sagging breasts-7%
An overwhelming 93% of women reported that regaining their pre-baby body was a priority.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (BAAPS), breast surgery is the second most popular invasive cosmetic surgery in the UK, with liposuction taking first place. Oftentimes women in the 30s and 40s undergo breast augmentation or breast lift/reduction to reverse the effects of breastfeeding. Pregnancy often takes a tremendous toll on a woman’s body and health, even if she maintains a regular diet and exercise routine during the nine-month period.

The term “mommy makeover” is used to refer to any combination of cosmetic procedures that would result in a pre-pregnancy body. A “mommy makeover” can include breast lift, breast reduction, liposuction, abdominoplasty, or breast augmentation.

If you are a Naples mom who is considering a “mommy makeover”, our friendly staff at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Naples would be happy to address any of your concerns.  If you are a new mom, I recommend waiting at least six months after giving birth before going under the knife.
