Cellfina® for Cellulite Reduction

Dimples and lumps on the thighs and buttocks can be an unsightly nuisance, especially here in Florida, where shorts and skirts seem to be the preferred garments much of the year. Because cellulite is caused by fibrous structures beneath the skin, creams, massage, and other external treatments seldom have any noticeable effect. Kent V. Hasen, M.D., was the first in Southwest Florida to offer an effective, long-lasting solution called Cellfina. His Naples and Fort Myers, FL patients were the first in the region to benefit from Cellfina, a minimally invasive treatment that uses very small microblades to disrupt the structure of cellulite, creating smoother, less dimpled skin. With Cellfina, patients now have a way to directly target areas of stubborn cellulite.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Because Cellfina is a relatively minor procedure — and because cellulite is such a common concern — many adults are eligible to safely undergo treatment. In general, if you’re frustrated by the appearance of cellulite on your thighs or elsewhere, you’re likely a candidate for treatment.

We also offer a number of other minimally invasive options for body contouring, including CoolSculpting® Elite and Renuvion®. These treatments can complement the results of Cellfina, further refining your most bothersome trouble spots for a more complete improvement. During your consultation, you and Dr. Hasen discuss your eligibility for a combined approach.

A Leader in Innovation Dr. Kent V. Hasen

Dr. Kent V. Hasen is committed to bringing the best of aesthetic medicine to his patients. He was the first plastic surgeon in Southwest Florida to offer Cellfina.

The Procedure

The Cellfina procedure, which requires only local anesthesia, is relatively brief and minimally invasive. Dr. Hasen begins by numbing your treatment area. He then uses Cellfina’s suction power to grasp a part of the treatment area. Once the handpiece is firmly but comfortably attached to the skin, Dr. Hasen inserts a very small microblade just beneath the skin. The microblade cuts through the bands of connective tissue that pull down on the skin from below and form cellulite, releasing them and reducing visible dimples.

Because the Cellfina device is so small, no sutures are needed. Bleeding is minimal, and thanks to the anesthesia, the procedure is quite comfortable. You can expect your appointment to last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Dr. Hasen on ABC 7: As the only plastic surgeon in Southwest Florida offering Cellfina at the time, Dr. Hasen shared how the innovative procedure works.

The Recovery

Although minor soreness and bruising after Cellfina are common, most patients feel well enough to resume their normal activities the next day or even shortly after treatment. No prescribed pain medication is necessary. However, Dr. Hasen typically recommends waiting a few weeks before resuming strenuous activities, especially those that involve your lower body.

One patient’s story on Good Morning America: Watch as one patient undergoes a quick session, then learn fact from fiction when it comes to treating stubborn cellulite.

The Result

Although the results of Cellfina aren’t instant, they do develop quickly. And once they appear, they’re very long-lasting. Many patients say they notice fewer dimples and an overall improvement in their treated areas after just 3 days. Over the next few weeks, your results will continue to develop. In one FDA-cleared clinical study, 93% of Cellfina patients reported they were satisfied or very satisfied with the results of a single treatment after 3 years.1
