Who Is a Good Candidate?
If you're bothered by excessive underarm sweating and it makes you self-conscious in social or work situations, PrecisionTx is an excellent treatment option. Other hyperhidrosis treatments, such as injections of BOTOX®, need repeated procedures every 6 to 12 months. The laser energy of PrecisionTx requires only a single treatment under each arm for most patients.1 Good candidates for PrecisionTx treatment:
- Find little relief from antiperspirants
- Change clothes often
- Avoid certain fabrics, styles, and colors of clothes
PrecisionTx is a minimally invasive medical spa procedure that requires only local anesthesia to numb the targeted area. Once the anesthetic takes effect, Dr. Hasen makes a tiny incision about the size of a pen tip under the arm. He then carefully slides a thin laser fiber through the incision. The laser energy targets underarm sweat glands just below the skin without damaging the skin itself. Because the glands are destroyed, the treatment's results are long-lasting.
A typical procedure takes about an hour. There is little, if any, discomfort because of the local anesthetic. The incisions are small enough that no sutures are necessary.
There is almost no downtime associated with PrecisionTx treatments. The laser energy itself prevents bleeding. There may be some light bruising, which diminishes in a day or 2. Most patients return to their normal daily activities in a short time. During a consultation, Dr. Hasen provides detailed information about what to expect following a procedure.
PrecisionTx treatments have a demonstrated track record of successful, long-term results for patients who have long struggled with excessive sweating. In clinical studies, the vast majority of patients report being satisfied with their results 1 year after treatment.1
