Case details
This 52 year old female had prior breast augmentation with 475 cc saline implants above the muscle. She feels that they are too large, droopy and have capsular contracture of the implants making them feel hard. She traveled several hours away from the Tampa region to have Dr. Kent Hasen in Naples, Florida perform her secondary breast implant exchange surgery. Kent V. Hasen is a board certified plastic surgeon based in Southwest Florida specializing in cosmetic surgery of the breast, body and face. In this case, Dr. Hasen performed a breast implant exchange with capsulectomy (removal of the hardened capsule), creation of a new under the muscle (submuscular or subpectoral) pocket and breast lift. The help with the underlying support of the breast implant and lift, Dr. Hasen used an acellular dermal matrix graft (Strattice) to the lower poles of each breast. This is a very complex technique, but it is essential in some difficult cases to help maintain the results long term. The patient is shown at 1 year post-op and is very happy with the results of a smaller breast, lifted appearance and softer implants.
