This 66 year old Naples man is shown before and after male breast reduction for gynecomastia surgery by board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kent Hasen. This man had complained that he was self conscious to take his shirt off in front of others because of the development of male breasts. Naples, Florida cosmetic breast surgeon - Dr. Kent Hasen -recommended that the patient undergo male breast reduction surgery using a circumareolar approach including direct excision of breast tissue and liposuction. The circumareolar approach allows Dr. Hasen to remove the excess skin that is sometimes seen in conjunction with gynecomastia. Additionally, the circumareolar incision allows cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Hasen to reduce the size of the areola and lift it to the correct position. Liposuction of the breast and chest area is a vital part of the male breast reduction surgery for gynecomastia that Dr. Hasen uses for these cases. In addition, most patients with gynecomastia have breast tissue just under the nipple complex that does not come out with liposuction alone. This breast tissue is very firm and requires direct excision just under the nipple areolar complex. In the post-operative period patients will be in a compression garment for at least 4 weeks to reduce the swelling and help the final contour of the chest. The patient is shown pre-operatively and post-operatively at 3 months.
